Fix The First Thing First
What have you tried to “fix” today? Maybe it’s a relationship … an illness … a personal weakness … a struggle at work …your checkbook … In our attempt to fix things, we tap into ourselves. We tap into all kinds of available resources: conferences, books, advice, techniques, tools. Yet we neglect to tap into the life-sustaining, unlimited supply that is ours to access anytime, anywhere. It’s as if we sip from tiny, dried-up rivulets rather than going to the limitless body of water that originates them.
The Source of Our Strength Simply “Is”
God, that life-sustaining resource, explains it this way: “I AM” (Exodus 3:14). He doesn’t provide the resources we need. He is those resources. The Great “I AM” is everything we need physically, spiritually, and emotionally. In scripture He uses hundreds of metaphors to explain to us His boundless resources: “I am Your Father. I am your Provider. I am your Source of Strength. I am your Shield and Fortress. I am your Healer …”
Priorities: Tap The Ultimate Source First
God’s identity as the ultimate Source of all we need simply exists, whether we access it or not. And He wants us to look to Him as our supply. Do you? Maybe our pride drives us to act first and turn to God later. Maybe our sense of responsibility leads us to “not bother Him.” Maybe the array of self-help options distracts us. Maybe we forget God is there. Maybe we’re not even aware of the access offered to us as Christ-followers or cannot fathom the limitless depths which He offers us. Don’t try to “fix” things on your own. Go to the Source. He is everything you need.
